Receipts and reimbursement: how to recover part of the cost

At SmartDoctor you receive a receipt (boleta) for every consultation. How much you get back depends on your Isapre or insurer and on the terms of your plan.

What we give you

With every consultation, whether a home visit or a video consultation, you receive a receipt (boleta) that you can submit to your Isapre or health insurer. SmartDoctor has no agreement with any Isapre: you pay us directly and you handle the reimbursement with your insurer.

What determines how much you get back

Reimbursement depends on your plan, not on SmartDoctor. These factors usually matter; confirm them with your insurer:

  • Whether your plan or supplementary insurance covers outpatient medical consultations outside its network.
  • Whether it applies to home visits or telemedicine.
  • Coverage percentage, caps and deductibles.
  • Documents it requires: the receipt and sometimes a medical order, prescription or its own form.
  • The deadline for submitting the claim.

Steps to claim reimbursement

  1. Keep your receipt after the consultation.
  2. Review your contract or plan, or ask your representative, online portal or customer service.
  3. Gather what they ask for (the receipt and, if applicable, an order or prescription).
  4. Submit the claim through the channel your insurer indicates and keep the proof of submission.

If you are covered by Fonasa (Chile's public health insurer), ask Fonasa directly what reimbursements or coverage apply to you. If you have travel insurance, ask your insurer whether it accepts a Chilean receipt and what documents it needs.

Prices

Current prices for home doctor visits, video consultations and physiotherapy are on the prices page (in Spanish). Nursing visits and home lab tests are quoted case by case.

If there is a risk to life, don't wait: call 131 (SAMU) or go to the nearest emergency department. SmartDoctor is not an emergency service.
